About Us

What is The Den?

Lindhead Out of School Club (aka The Den) is a club for children between the ages of 4 to 12, from when they have started primary school until they begin Year 8. It has been open since 1999, operating on a not-for-profit basis. The Manager is supported by a Deputy Manager/Financial Co-ordinator and a volunteer Management Committee.

Where can we be found?

The Den is an independent building situated within the grounds of Lindhead Primary School, Burniston, Scarborough.

When are we open?

We are open during term time, school holidays and Lindhead Primary School training days. The exceptions are over the Christmas period and Bank Holidays.

Why choose us?

We welcome any child to attend the club, not just children from Lindhead Primary School. Children attend from other local schools and sometimes further afield! We are dedicated to providing fun, quality, affordable childcare and we aim to deliver positive play experiences in a safe and stimulating environment.

Who provides the care?

Professional staff are employed to deliver quality childcare and thorough checks are made before a member of staff is employed by the club. They are carefully chosen for their range of expertise and experiences they can share with the children. The staff put their skills to good use and work as a team to organise a varied plan of activities for your child(ren) to join in with and keep them entertained.

What happens at the club?

Term time:

During our morning session the children have the opportunity to socialise and play and are offered breakfast which consists of cereal or toast and a drink of fresh fruit juice or water. On an afternoon a 3.30pm snack is offered plus fresh fruit and vegetables. After, if possible, the children are taken outside to play (we are very lucky, as we have access to the school outdoor facilities) and inside a planned activity is set up for the children to join in with if they wish to. This may be an art, craft or baking activity for example. For those staying after 5.15pm a second light snack is offered.

Holidays and Lindhead Primary School training days:

We have themed days and weeks which are filled with fun activities for the children to do. In certain holidays we organise trips to go on. Breakfast (for 8.30am starters) and snacks are provided throughout the day but you must send your child(ren) with a packed lunch, including a drink.

(Please see the Prices page on the About Us dropdown list for more information too.)

How do you book?

You must first fill in a registration form for your child(ren) before they can attend and if possible, come and visit the club prior to them joining. After that you can either phone, email or pop in and speak to a member of staff regarding places available.

(Please see the Bookings page on the About Us dropdown list or Contact Us page for more information too.)
